Important Notice Regarding the Vinyl Wrap Industry
The vinyl wrap shortage is due to a worldwide shortage of raw materials needed to produce PVC cast films. ALL manufacturers are experiencing production delays, which causes many products to either be out of stock, create backorders, or delay current backorders. With a sufficient amount of raw material, our manufacturing partners can produce as much product as needed, leading to these shortages.
As of 2023, KPMF & Orafol are at ~80% production capacity, Hexis is at ~90% production capacity, and Metro Wrap is at ~95% production capacity. Avery is at 75% production capacity. 3M is at 85% production capacity.
Timeline on full capacity is still not set in stone, however, each month that passes it progressively gets better.
Manufactures are now focusing on producing all films in their line up, however, filling a 2 year back log will take some time.
At the moment we do know that Avery Satin and Gloss Pearl White have been put on production hold due to shortages with the pigmentation needed to make the color.
Current Production Capacities Per Brand
We understand the frustration with the vinyl wrap shortages over the last year and some. We hope this is a good sign moving forward and for more products to be fully produced and readily available for Metro Restyling to stock and service our wonderful customers. We thank you for your patience.
We strive to relay both manufacturing and shipping information to our customer base as soon as we can. We understand these shortages and shipping delays have been causing plenty of frustration, both up and down the supply chain. Metro Restyling goes above and beyond for all of our customers. We understand that those of you who own automotive shops have customers breathing down your necks and that you have deadlines to meet. We sympathize with these painful situations.
We strive to work through these shortages in the best way possible. For example, Metro Restyling has hired employees with the sole purpose of monitoring our inventory on a daily, at times even on an hourly basis. However, it seems that as soon as a product is in stock, customers place their orders, and these orders have the potential to exceed what we have in inventory before we even have the chance to update it. We are constantly monitoring what we sell versus what we have on hand. Our stock will be adjusted as soon as possible.
The best way to secure a product is to call us, and if the product is out of stock, we can take a pre-order. Pre-orders get fulfilled as soon as we get inventory. Usually, manufacturers do not provide an accurate ETA (estimated arrival time). The leftover stock from these orders gets placed in our online inventory management system. We also recommend calling Metro Restyling directly at (586) 554-2700 to place an order. Placing an order by phone helps ensure that the order can be fulfilled if the product is available. Our Manufacturers are trying their best to produce as much product as possible, given the limited raw material they have on hand.
The current material being produced may also apply differently than usual. There is also a chance for more markings on the film during production. Again, this is not a typical time, and Metro Restyling and our partners are doing their best to deliver the best product available to our customer base. Manufacturers are struggling just like the rest of us in this often vicious supply chain cycle. We have dedicated our customer service staff to correctly and efficiently handling these types of situations.
We do our best to ship our orders within 24 hours. After an order leaves either our Michigan or Nevada warehouse, it is in the hands of the carrier, and Metro Restyling cannot take the blame for what happens to the package after it leaves our property. Of course, we will always contact our account representatives and ensure that these packages are being moved and delivered in the best, most efficient way possible. Multiple factors can occur during the shipping process that is beyond our and the shipping companies control. This being said, Metro Restyling will still go above and beyond to help customers with any lost or damaged packages. We cannot help with any delays from carriers. This shortage has affected the whole supply chain, not just the end-user.
Again, our customers mean everything to us. We have spent money on reshipping and expediting the shipping process because of these numerous delays. Ultimately, Metro Restyling would like to make it known that we do our absolute best to serve every one of our customers. Each situation is unique, and we will continue striving to bring the best experience to every single one of our customers. Our staff does their best job to handle these difficult situations, and we will continue to vouch for them.
We wanted to provide some insight into these ongoing supply chain and carrier issues in the hope of educating our customers so they can better serve and educate their customers. We hope you understand and continue to support our growing wrap industry as we will all become stronger and together in the end.
